Changing tyres or wheels is a useful reminder to review the winter kit. The key question is whether the equipment is still confirmed for the combination now fitted, rather than whether the car’s badge has changed.
Start with the change itself
Write down the full new tyre code and compare it with the previous record. Keep axle labels if front and rear differ. A purchase receipt can help identify the new set, but the sidewall photograph confirms what is actually on the car.

Recheck the accessory separately
Find the snow-sock label and the current chart for its exact series. If the new size is listed, retain that evidence. If the information is missing or contradictory, ask for clarification before keeping the set in the ready-to-use kit.
Remove obsolete instructions from the decision
An old note saying “fits our car” is difficult to audit later. Replace it with a note naming the tyre code, product code and date checked. Keep the old note as history if needed, but mark it so another driver does not mistake it for the current setup.
- New tyre record
- Product-specific recheck
- Clearly dated kit note
The equipment may remain usable, or a different product may be required. Make that decision from the actual change and current information, rather than replacing everything automatically or assuming nothing needs review.
