An AWD or 4x4 badge does not justify a universal front-or-rear fitting rule for snow socks. The correct starting point is the guidance for the exact vehicle, wheel combination and traction device.
Find the instruction, not a slogan
Manufacturers use different drive configurations, and models can change between years. Locate the relevant handbook section and keep the passage with your trip information. Advice for another vehicle is background to investigate, not permission for your own setup.

Keep tyre differences visible
Record both axle sizes if they differ. A set listed for one size does not settle whether that axle is the permitted position. Likewise, an instruction about an axle does not establish that the chosen product is compatible with the tyre fitted there.
Ask a question that can be answered
Provide the vehicle version, handbook passage, full tyre sizes and exact snow-sock product. If two sources appear to conflict, show both. Asking “does it fit all 4x4s?” is too broad to resolve a specific restriction.
- Vehicle and model year
- Axle-specific tyre codes
- Relevant instruction and product code
Leave the fitting decision unresolved until those details agree. Four-wheel drive changes the information you need to check; it does not remove the need for confirmed equipment, suitable conditions and a prepared route.
