When front and rear tyre sizes differ, write down both. Do not reduce the vehicle to whichever code was easiest to photograph, and do not choose the fitting axle merely to suit a set that you already own.
Label the two records
Take a clear photograph of each relevant axle’s tyre-size marking and label it “front” or “rear”. A pair of unlabelled close-ups can create confusion later. Include the complete code rather than recording only the different wheel diameters.

Resolve the axle instruction separately
The vehicle handbook is the place to check traction-device instructions and restrictions. The fact that a snow sock is listed for one tyre size does not establish that it belongs on that axle for this vehicle. AWD descriptions also do not justify a universal front-or-rear answer.
Ask for a matched confirmation
For example, an enquiry can say: “The front size is shown in photo A and the rear size in photo B. Which exact product is listed for the axle permitted by my vehicle instructions?” If the guidance is unclear, keep the uncertainty visible rather than placing an order from an assumption.
- Identify both axle sizes.
- Read the vehicle’s equipment instructions.
- Match the relevant size to the product chart.
The finished record should connect the permitted fitting position to a confirmed product and tyre size. Two separate, accurate pieces of information are useful only when they are joined correctly.
